Michael Lamarche lives in Gloucester and is currently working as a carpenter in the Swampscott/Marblehead area. From a young age, Michael was interested in the intersection of art and counterculture, landing him in trouble with the police after getting caught doing graffiti. This passion eventually blossomed into a focus on class-less arts; the dismantling of the art world’s classist divisions including the barriers between those allowed to be an artist or witness art and those who are not allowed or able to do so. He studied at MassArt and subsequently graduated at Goddard College with a degree in Socially Engaged Arts, a degree track which supports artists in the creation of work that engages with their local community. For three years Michael spent a majority of his free time focusing on a non-hierarchical art group called Scribble. Documentation of their shows can be witnessed on ScribbleTheArtShow.com. These days, Michael is focused on his career and pursuing the intersection of carpentry and art with an overarching desire to bring harmonious color and shape to boring spaces.
